LADIES AT RINGWAY
Ringway Ladies are always ready to welcome new members to their section whether you are coming from the Academy, the Associate group or from another Club. (For beginners please see the New to Golf section).
Ringway calls on everyone involved in golf to play their part in developing a culture that values women's involvement in every aspect of the sport, from participating to pursuing a career. Read about our Women in Golf Charter.
There are many opportunities to play golf each week. Our main competition day is Tuesday (or Alternate day Sunday), for 18 or 9 holes. We have a ladies Friday morning roll up and also Friday mixed medals and stablefords. Plus you can play social golf at anytime with your new friends!
The Ladies section is very active with Lady Captain and her Committee arranging competitions and events throughout the year. We have lunches, afternoon teas and suppers after our main competitions and a Ladies dinner at the end of the season. There are fun competitions with draws for partners and knockouts for every handicap level.
We hold a Prize Presentation late afternoon every Tuesday which gives us all the opportunity to see our friends, hear all the Club news and congratulate the previous week's winners. We can also fix up our playing partners for the weeks ahead! Twice a year our Pro James puts on a Fashion Show of the latest golf clothing (with the help of some of our “model†ladies).
The Ladies section runs six teams, A, B, Plate and Business Ladies in the East Cheshire leagues plus a Friendly team and a Senior Ladies Team playing against other clubs in the area. We also enter a team into the Manchester and district Bell Cup, the Liz Wilson (scratch) competition and a scratch league. Pre- season we organise a practice matchplay session together with “how to practise with purposeâ€.
Each year we have an exchange day with another Club, usually within an hour's drive, and a “Ringway Ladies on Tour†weekend away when we play some fun golf and enjoy ourselves relaxing in the evening.

In addition to the golfing activities many of our Ladies play bridge, coming up to the Club for lunch before making up their tables. We hold several bridge drives as well as matches against other clubs, and many also enjoy a monthly Bridge supper in the winter. Each year a series of coaching sessions are offered for beginners and experienced players.
We also have opportunities to play Indoor Mat Bowls, Snooker and Pilates and the Club runs many social events - see our Social page for more detail.
We are a growing section of the club with over 150 ladies, over 100 are active golfers with handicaps ranging from 4 to 42. Ringway values its lady members highly and the club is committed to their involvement and integration -see our Women in Golf Charter page.
New members joining Ringway Golf Club will be assigned a Mentor who will provide specific guidance and support in order that each individual can make the best use of their membership at the Club. Find out more about our Mentoring Partnership .
