Hole 9 (Easter Lane)

The second (third for the ladies) par five on the front nine is a dog-leg that swings round to the left.

Bunkers down the left side push the tee shot out to the right and the left-to-right slope of the fairway tends to hurry many shots towards the right hand rough. For most golfers, it is then necessary to play a safe second shot in order to avoid the bunkers in the approach and so leave a shortish pitch to the green. The shot to the green must be of sufficient length to carry its sloping front third and also needs to take into consideration the left-to-right slope of the putting surface.  This can be difficult to judge because the player's eye-line is often below the level of the putting surface. This green is definitely reachable in two by the longer hitters but a wild second shot can leave you in plenty of trouble. The slopes on the green mean that a two putt can be very tricky.
